Single & Happy is my 35th birthday present to myself. You can buy it here. It’s $4.99, but if you use the coupon code GM36A, you can get it for $2.50.

What I learned in undergrad writing courses was that it’s better to resist the urge to explain your work before people read it. I really, really want to add disclaimers and asterisks and a bunch of other things right now, but the most important thing is that I started it, I finished it and now I’m releasing it out into the world.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I went with Smashwords over Amazon for a few reasons that I’ll talk about later. But you can leave a review on my author page at Goodreads, or send me a note here. Looking forward to hearing from you about it!

Your help will ensure that children in need will have new books — stories at bedtime, the chance to be transported to another world, and the opportunity to return to normalcy.

Every $2.50 you contribute will provide a new book to a child affected by the storm.

Your impact will also be DOUBLED as each gift of $2.50 will be matched by an additional book from First Book’s publishing partners.

Do You Know What You’re Getting Your Mom for Mother’s Day?

You’re all in luck because First Book has the best gift idea ever (we’re humble): a bouquet of books. Instead of getting the mother in your life a bouquet of flowers this Mother’s Day, why not donate a bouquet of books to kids in need in her honor? You can send her one of our nifty e-cards to let her know you were thinking about her. We’ll use your donation to continue providing new books for children in need.

First Book wants to give away 1 MILLION BOOKS TO KIDS IN NEED OVER THE NEXT 10 DAYS. Here’s the catch: We want the world to know about the issue of illiteracy and how they can help us fight it. In support of our effort, we will give away a book for every “re-blog”, “retweet”, and “share” we get of  this message on twitter, tumblr and facebook. Get to sharing.

Yay, POTUS, FLOTUS and FirstBook!

Every year, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day presents us with an opportunity to renew our commitment to serving our communities.

On Monday, President Obama, Michelle Obama and First Book helped to refurbish a local elementary school library in Washington DC.  Together with a large group of volunteers, they cleaned, painted and organized 600 books donated to the school by First Book.

First Book was pleased to be a part of the First Family’s Day of Service.
